Student Showcase
2026 Student Photography Expo & Competition Hosted by Action Camera
Calling all photography students!
Action Camera in is thrilled to announce our first-ever Student Photography Expo, celebrating emerging photographic voices from the greater Rocklin and lower Placer County areas. Students are invited to submit photographs they are most proud to have created during their education.
What can be submitted:
Each photographer may submit up to three high-resolution digital images for consideration. You will be notified within 1-2 weeks if your work is chosen
Judging and selection:
The submissions will be curated by both high school and college faculty, with a goal of a wide representation of styles and creative voices. Depending on the number of submissions, not everyone will be able to show their work.
Prizes & awards
There will be separate categories for High School and College. The first-place winners of each will receive a brand-new Fujifilm X half camera (or a gift card of similar value), and the second and third place winners will receive gift cards to use at Action Camera.
Print & presentation support:
If your work is selected, you are invited to Sierra College print to print and over-mat your image for free. There will be two print sessions offered. Printing through this event will ensure your photo meets the printing standards for the expo. If you are unable to attend the free print opportunities, you may be required to deliver a professionally printed and matted image at your own expense. Print sizes will be approximately 11”x14” matted with a 16”x20” white overmat.
The exhibition:
The exhibition will kick off with a gallery opening at Action Camera on Saturday, May 23rd. We’ll celebrate your artistry with food, drinks, and a warm, welcoming community of photography enthusiasts.
